Summary: Sue Brannan Walker, Poet Laureate of Alabama, believes in “a global approach to writing is exciting and builds community at home and abroad.” Using George Ella Lyon’s Poem, “Where I’m From,” she will lead people in talking about their community in the greater Mobile area. This program is a project of Sense magazine and the University of South Alabama.
Sue Walker is the Poet Laureate of Alabama and the Stokes Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama. She teaches Southern Literature and Poetry Writing on the Undergraduate and Graduate levels. She has published 9 books of poetry, a mixed genre book on the environment and history of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, and edited collections on Richard Eberhart, Karl Shapiro, and Marge Piercy. She has also published drama and short fiction.
