Event: Collaborating Through and For Community: A Kick-Off Event for OCOP, Aug. 5, 2011, 1-3 p.m., Haybarn, Goddard College, 123 Pitkin Road, Plainfield, VT 05667
Facilitators of this event: Students Miriam Gabriel, Jeremy Johnson, Sarah Lopes and Eric Dalke, and faculty Katt Lissard and Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg
Summary: This keynote event for Goddard College’s Individualized MA program and kick-off event for OCOP brings together all the students and faculty of the Individualized MA project (which includes the Transformative Language Arts Concentration) to explore how collaboration learning can enhance, deepen and serve communities. The two-hour event includes cultural mapping exercises, a guided meditation, and a writing and art exercise in which everyone will make their own posters on what community and collaboration mean to them. The posters will then be shared in small groups before being displayed up and down the long hall of the college community center during the week-long residency so that students can learn about one another and plan collaborative projects.
